Pass Campaign Finance Reform
Campaign finance reform helps true public servants, business owners, and most importantly, voters.
Nobody likes the current system: politicians spend hours fundraising, shaking down wealthy donors instead of spending time doing their job—serving the people.
We’re actively exploring campaigns across the state to pass campaign finance reform, first at the local level and then statewide, to ensure that the people of Missouri can hold our elected officials accountable for their actions and inactions.
So, what’s the solution? Pass policies that allow candidates to run campaigns powered by small donations from actual constituents instead of big money donors. We’re pursuing the Democracy Voucher program that has works in other states. The program would:
Stop pay-to-play: Ban donations to candidates over $250
Empower voters and increase participation: Each registered voter receives two $25 Honest Election Vouchers for each race in which they can vote that cycle.
Reduce waste: Vouchers save money—public and private—by ending insider dealing and pay-to-play.
Increase voter turnout: In the country’s first Honest Elections system, unlikely voters who had never donated before were 400% more likely to vote after they turned in a voucher.
Hold candidates accountable: To be eligible to participate in the program, candidates gather signatures and small donations. Then, if they choose to participate, they collect and redeem vouchers for campaign funds.
Sound interesting? We’d love to have you join our team of reformers exploring these policies.
